Assessment Web Application

Research, design, implementation, and iteration

2021 -2025

As a Product Designer at The Myers-Briggs Company, I’ve led the design and execution of user-centered web applications. I’ve collaborated with cross-functional teams to ensure that products meet both user needs and business goals. Working with product managers, developers, and stakeholders, I’ve played a key role in shaping product vision, gathering user insights, and translating them into actionable design solutions.

I worked on SaaS Enterprise web apps for B2C and B2B2C, as well as B2C direct-to-consumer responsive web apps and mobile applications. Originator of the MBTI Assessments, and providing other assessments, the products were used globally to provide self-improvement and insights at scale.

Key Contributions:

  • Cross-functional collaboration with content, research, marketing, and development teams to deliver new products and features quickly and efficiently
  • Creating and maintaining a unified, accessible design system to align product platforms and branding
  • Producing design assets, from user flows and personas to wireframes, pixel-perfect mockups, and interactive prototypes
  • Implementing responsive design for a legacy desktop-only software, transitioning it to a modern technology stack
  • Conducting competitive analysis and heuristic evaluations to continually refine design and functionality
  • Running trainings for customer service and sales on new features
  • Supporting internationalization and localization efforts to expand global reach
  • Managing projects from start to finish, for products from concept to execution, to additional features on existing products

Tools: Figma, Figjam, Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Product Discovery, Teams, SharePoint, Umbraco CMS, Zendesk, Salesforce, Hotjar

Projects:
  • Redesigning a legacy web application to better support the dual-experiences of the provider and assessment-taker
  • Designing direct to consumer, mobile-first, web applications for personal growth
  • Working on new features and new products from concept to execution
  • Improving our knowledge management by unifying project spec templates and Figma file templates

Research & Analysis
  • Competitive Analysis: Regularly performed in-depth competitor analysis to stay ahead in a competitive market, identifying industry trends and opportunities for differentiation.
  • Heuristic Evaluation: Conducted evaluations of legacy software to uncover usability issues, which guided future design iterations and improvements.
  • User Research: Conducted user interviews to uncover needs, as well as running surveys and analyzing feedback through HotJar.

Design & Execution
  • User-Centered Design: Collaborated with Customer Support and Customer Experience teams to prioritize features and design solutions based on customer feedback and evolving user needs.
  • Prototyping & Design in Figma: Designed and prototyped web applications in Figma, focusing on intuitive user flows, clear visual hierarchy, and responsive design.
  • Documentation & Handoff: Created comprehensive documentation in Confluence for smooth design handoff to development and QA teams, ensuring alignment on product specifications, timelines, and requirements.

Project Management & Collaboration
  • Stakeholder Management: Worked closely with stakeholders to identify new feature requests, balancing them with critical bug fixes and system improvements. Prioritized and organized tasks to meet business goals within deadlines.
  • Cross-Departmental Coordination: Regularly collaborated with teams such as finance, customer service, and legal to ensure all project dependencies were addressed, and to support go-to-market activities.

Organizational Improvements

Upon joining, I noticed significant gaps in knowledge management and onboarding processes. To address this, I took the initiative to streamline documentation and ensure a more efficient knowledge transfer process:

  • Knowledge Management: Organized our Microsoft SharePoint and introduced shared notes via OneNote, laying the foundation for improved internal documentation.
  • Confluence Optimization: As the company moved towards Atlassian tools, I helped migrate product and project knowledge into Confluence, creating structured templates for project specs and a central source of truth for the team.
  • Figma Organization: Migrated all design assets to Figma, establishing a clear file structure with standardized naming conventions and thumbnails, making it easier for teams to access, share, and collaborate on design assets.

Design System & Branding
  • Unified Design System: Worked with fellow designers to refresh the company’s branding and create a unified design system that spans all platforms. This design system included comprehensive Figma components and style guides to ensure visual consistency across products.
  • Incremental Improvements: Designed with both short-term and long-term goals in mind, ensuring that our software suite could be incrementally unified and improved over time while maintaining a cohesive user experience.

Final Thoughts

This role has given me the opportunity to contribute to a major product evolution and refine my skills in user-centered design, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic problem-solving. I’m excited about the journey ahead and proud of the work I’ve done to help shape the future of product offerings.
